Goals and Objectives
This clinical fellowship position is designed to give the applicant enhanced clinical expertise in the following areas:
1. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of common disease processes specific to the sport medicine and joint replacement including, but not limited to:
- Arthritis
- Instability (Shoulder, Knee and Ankle instability)
- Trauma
- Arthropathy (Cartilage Wear) and Tendinopathy
- Joint Deformities (Genu varum, Genu valgum, CAM-Impingement, Hip joint dysplasia)
2. Develop competency in arthroscopic and open joint reconstruction surgery including the clinical management of:
- Arthritis
- Ligament injuries of the shoulder, knee and ankle
- Joint Instability
- Tendon rupture (Achilles tendon, Hamstring, Patella- and quadriceps tendon, Rotator cuff, distal biceps and triceps tendon)
- Trauma
3. Develop competency in the correct application, choice and performance of the following surgical procedures:
- Shoulder, Hip, Knee and Ankle joints Arthroscopy
- Total Shoulder, Hip and Knee Arthroplasty
- Arthroscopic ACL-Reconstruction, Meniscal repair
- Open and arthroscopic treatment of knee dislocation
- Cartilage Therapy (Microfracture, Cell-Based cartilage resurfacing, Osteochondral autograft, Osteotomy and Knee replacement)
- Arthroscopic and Open Rotator Cuff Reconstruction
- Arthroscopic and Open Shoulder Stabilization
- Tendon Repair and Reconstruction
- Arthroscopic FAI trimming
- Acute and Chronic AC-Joint stabilization
- Ligament reconstruction of the ankle (lateral, medial and syndesmosis complex)
